Spa Saturdays - 01 Honey (Benefits)

Spa Saturdays is my new Section on the blog where I'll be posting lots of Natural remedies for a complete spa treatment at Home. Each Saturday I'll discuss different remedies with the products found at your home, made by nature, their benefits and the tips how you can add these things to increase your beauty NATURALLY.

Honey-for skin :-

  • Honey has antibacterial properties, which helps in fighting acne and pimples. Honey reduces infection and is very effective home remedy to treat acne.
  • Honey is also antiseptic. When honey is diluted with water, it produces hydrogen peroxide which is an antimicrobial agent and is used as a mild antiseptic.
  • Honey is a good cleanser for skin. It soak ups impurities from the pores of the skin, leaving your skin clear and clean.
  • Honey is a very effective moisturizer for skin. It retains moisture making your skin radiant, soft and supple.
  • Honey properties protect your skin under the sun and assist the skin to rejuvenate and stay young.

  • Honey is a natural remedy to prevent wrinkles. Honey slows down the ageing process.

Honey-for Hair :-

Honey acts in two different ways to prevent hair loss.
  • Acts as a humectant and prevents hair loss by preventing loss of moisture. The high sugar content of honey helps to retain water and thereby maintains moisture content of hair. In fact this moisture content helps to keep the cuticle soft.
  • Anti-bacterial property : The anti-bacterial property of honey helps to have a healthy scalp. This in turn reduces the risk of dandruff and thus, hair fall.

Honey-for Health :-

  • Prevent cancer and heart disease: Honey contains flavonoids, antioxidants which help reduce the risk of some cancers and heart disease.
  •  Reduce ulcers and other gastrointestinal disorders: Recent research shows that honey treatment may help disorders such as ulcers and bacterial gastroenteritis.
  •  Anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-fungal: “All honey is antibacterial, because the bees add an enzyme that makes hydrogen peroxide,” said Peter Molan, director of the Honey Research Unit at the University of Waikato in New Zealand.
  •  Increase athletic performance: Ancient Olympic athletes would eat honey and dried figs to enhance their performance.
  • Reduce cough and throat irritation: Honey helps with coughs, particularly buckwheat honey and helps to get a better sleep.

Honey-for Weight Loss :-


  • Honey contains sugar. But unlike refined sugar, honey contains vitamins and minerals too which helps in reducing the calories stored in the body as fats, when combined with warm water, cinnamon or lemon juice.
  • Honey also improves your digestion and thus helps in weight loss. Hence honey is also consumed after dinner especially after overeating.
