Spa Saturdays - 05 Facial Scrub

When dead skin does not shed properly, bacteria becomes trapped in the pores, causing blackheads or breakouts. Using a daily facial scrub exfoliates skin, so dead skin cells are removed and pores are clear. You can make a facial scrub at home using ingredients from your own kitchen. You can store your personal facial scrub in a glass jar, and leave it next to your tub or sink.

What you'll need :-

  • Almonds
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1/8 cup lavender powder
  • Cutting board
  • Rolling pin
  • Mortar and pestle
  • Bowl
  • Spoon

How to :-

  1. Place a handful of almonds on a cutting board.
  2. Roll a rolling pin over the almonds a few times to crush them.
  3. Use a mortar and pestle to further grind the almonds so they are as small as they can possibly be. Large chunks of almonds could damage and tear skin.
  4. Place 2 tbsp. of the finely ground almonds into a bowl.
  5. Add 1 tbsp. honey and 1/2 tsp. lemon juice to the almonds.
  6. Add 1/8 cup lavender powder to the bowl for a calming scent.
  7. Stir all of the ingredients together well.
  8. Use your fingers to apply the mixture to your skin.
  9. Massage the scrub into your skin for two minutes, and then rinse it off with warm water.
